This black framed poster sized picture is based on the famous photograph taken by Alfred Eisenstaedt on August the 14th 1945 in Times Square, New York.
His photo captured a 21-year-old dental assistant Greta Zimmer Friedman walking amongst the crowd in her white nurse's uniform celebrating the end of the war, she was swept into this embrace by George Mondonsa wearing his navy uniform and caught up in the emotion of the time. It has been an inspiration for many artists since then in many forms.
It's big at 94cm x 64cm so you'll need quite a space to hang it. We love the pose and between demonstrative couples it still seems to radiate giddy passion!
We believe The I Love You Shop is a unique buyer's experience. It' s a place to find ways to just spontaneously celebrate your feelings for you partner! It's a part of a community for new buzzing couples and those at all stages of falling for one another. It celebrates love, romance, that beautiful deep connection and for a few the sense of finding their soulmate! We'd love to hear your romantic tales of how you celebrate the feeling!
As it's big it will be sent needing a signature on receipt. It will also be packed in bubble wrap and covered in a white water repellent cover, although not suited to sitting outside in the rain. Like all our packaging it carries the company logo big and bold on the front so the message is clear when it arrives with the recipient. You will also find a little sticker on the back of the frame for a small note should you want to personalise your picture.
This poster has a contemporary street art style that brings a modern reminder of old movie style kisses - could be a daily reminder of the power of romantic spontaneity!
